Cardboard Boat

We received 14 Achievements!

My Teammates:
-Patrick Everett
-Sam Cattell

Design Achievements:
• Define the Problem and Brainstorm Solutions

• Criteria & Constraints

• Sketch Ideas

• Prototype Ideas

 Select an Approach

+:We had a pointed bow so it would slice through the water. We also decided to go with the design (below) that folded in, instead of having seams that could be vulnerable to the water.
Change: Make it more aerodynamic. The design is big, bulky, and durable instead of being small and fast, which would have been my next goal/
?: What would have happened if we covered the top of the pointed bow? Water got in quickly, making it heavier so it might have been a good change.
!: Our design followed the criteria and constraints!

(This was what it looked like before we folded it.)

• Surface area!

 Build Achievements:
• Build It!

Test Achievements:
 The Farthest
• The Longest
• Balance Master

Reflection Achievements:

• Feedback
+:  Our boat was a success! It floated as well and was also one of the most durable. We probably could have saved it at the end and used it again!
Change: I would probably change the fact that it wasn't too areodynamic and
?: What would happen if we had had seams instead of folding it where they should have been?
!: Our team was awesome and cooperative! We all pitched in and had ideas on the table!

• How Low Did You Go?

We didn't sink too much into the water- maybe about 7" and our walls were 12". Our pilot was roughly 110 lbs and we worked out some of the math (below).

• Redesign

 Make Your Own Achievement

My own achievement would be to see how many people could fit into each boat. Whoever can fit the most people wins. Like my previous boat:
